Post-Event Reflection: Phoenix Yuen College Orientation 2026 Day 1
We are thrilled to share the successful completion of this year's Phoenix Yuen College Orientation held on August 30, 2026, at the College Hall, JCSV IV, HKU. It was a vibrant day filled with engagement, learning and community building.
From the moment volunteers arrived at 2:00 PM to prepare the venue, the energy was palpable. The event officially kicked off at 3:00 PM with warm welcomes and opening remarks from College Master Prof. Sophia Chan, who also took this opportunity to introduce our new benefactor, Mrs. Phoenix Yuen and Phoenix Yuen Foundation Fund Limited, whose generous support empowers and enriches our college community. This partnership symbolizes a milestone in our ongoing development and community spirit.
Participants enjoyed a comprehensive introduction to our neighborhood, village, and college through an engaging presentation by tutorial team, which helped new students familiarize themselves with their surroundings. Fire safety took center stage with a sharing session led by firefighter guests, emphasizing crucial safety protocols. We extend our sincere appreciation to the Aberdeen Fire Station & Ambulance Depot for visiting our College for the third consecutive year!
The day also included a delightful buffet with informal conversations and connections among residents of Phoenix Yuen College. A lively Clubs & Committees Sharing segment allowed students to explore various student organizations, encouraging active involvement in campus life. We thank student volunteers for organizing and fully managing club & committee related sharing.
The highlight was the Fun Quiz, which tested students' knowledge on the event topics and rewarded 18 lucky winners with college souvenirs, adding an element of excitement.
The event wrapped up with a group photo to commemorate the day, marking the beginning of a promising academic journey for all new students.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to attendees, volunteers and speakers for making this event memorable. We look forward to seeing our new students active and engaged in our college community! And see you at the Orientation Day 2!
Here’s to a successful start and an inspiring year ahead!
