It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Phoenix Yuen College — a vibrant, diverse, and forward-looking residential community nestled within the Jockey Club Student Village IV at the University of Hong Kong.
We are deeply grateful to the Phoenix Yuen Foundation Fund Limited, our benefactor, whose vision and generosity have made this new chapter possible. Their support reflects a shared commitment to advancing education, fostering wellbeing, promoting community service, and nurturing creative expression through the arts.
Phoenix Yuen College is more than just a residence. It is a “home away from home”, a space where students from different backgrounds come together to live, learn, and grow. Guided by our core values of community engagement, holistic wellbeing, and artistic expression, we are dedicated to cultivating a caring, inclusive environment that supports our students academically, socially, personally, and creatively.
Our College was founded on the belief that university life extends far beyond the classroom. Through shared experiences, thoughtful reflection, and a strong spirit of collaboration, our residents are encouraged to embrace the full spectrum of student life. We take pride in being the first College to initiate independent research on student wellbeing in residential settings, reflecting our deep commitment to fostering growth across all six dimensions of wellbeing — social, emotional, spiritual, physical, cognitive, and financial — as well as the power of artistic expression to inspire and transform.
We are also passionate about nurturing student leadership. From participating in College events and joining activity teams to initiating community projects and exploring creative expression through the arts, students here have endless opportunities to shape their own experiences while making meaningful contributions to the wider community. At Phoenix Yuen College, every student is a valued member and a potential changemaker — someone who contributes not only to community development but also to the arts and cultural enrichment.
University life can sometimes be overwhelming. Whether you are facing personal struggles, academic pressure, or moments of uncertainty, please know that you are not alone. No matter what challenges you may encounter, our Master and Tutor Team — and the entire Phoenix Yuen College family — will walk alongside you. We are here to listen, support, empower you, and encourage your creative pursuits, every step of the way.
